About Bigtime Automotive Inc. and It's Owner -- Bob Romano
As a young man, Bob Romano, the owner/operator of Bigtime Automotive, became interested in racing and muscle cars. In 1976, one of the first cars he raced was a 1967 Camaro that he built for part time racing and his daily driver. His love for racing and building fast cars grew from there.
Bigtime Auto was officially started back in 1988 when Bob sold his 1967 camaro, which was now a full time racecar and built his first “Altered” racecar to race in IHRA Top Sportsman. His friends told him he was going “Big Time”; he smiled, kept the name and put it on his racecar. He continued to race in the IHRA through 1994 with several Altered’s that he designed, winning awards for “Best Engineered” and “Best Appearing”. In 1993 after winning the summer nationals he was on the cover of Drag Review and other publications. During that same period, Bob was featured in a twenty minute expose on ESPN. Over the years, Bob has accumulated many friends, knowledge and experience in the racing world. He has acquired a customer base in the racing world, muscle cars, fast street cars, as well as ordinary cars, trucks, custom Harley Davidson’s, and fast motorcycles. His vast knowledge of anything and “Everything Automotive” has built his reputation. He is also known for his fabrication and design capabilities.
After retiring from IHRA racing in 1995, Bob used his fabrication and foresight, designing computer mounts and spearheaded the specialty installation of computer systems for the emergency and utility sectors. His love for racing and working on cars did not subside; he maintained his Altered and continued to run it at several events each year. In addition, he built cars to race locally as well as working on select cars to keep in touch with the new wave of technology. As part of his personal vehicle collection, Bob has built a classic 1971 Dodge 440 six pack Challenger, painted Plum Crazy that has won best of show in several local car shows. His love of cars and racing has all led to him making Bigtime Automotive, Inc. a full time venture.
